Exhibition – Vanessa Aloia – Worlds of Wonder – B-SIDE Gallery – 03/12/21

‘Worlds of Wonder’ by Vanessa Aloia welcomes you to the world of the unknown. Through this exhibition the individual is taken on a journey through the depths of the ocean to explore self. A wonder unfamiliar yet so familiar.

Bringing to light the significance and relevance of the ocean and how it affects individuals as we constantly channel and embrace its fierceness, serenity, mystery and its abundant surrounding on planet earth. Despite covering over 70% of Earths surface and the impact it has on every living organism, less than 10% of the ocean has actually been explored or even seen by humans.

‘Worlds of Wonder’ aims to depict the ocean’s moods and resonate with the audience, with the intention to invoke feelings of both tranquility and aggression, to connect with the ever changing mood of the sea. Just as other external factors narrate our emotions, the same applies for the ocean, for instance the phases of the moon. Its gravitational pull generates the oceans tides causing levels to rise and fall, experiencing weaker and stronger pulls resulting in tidal fluctuations.
