Please join us at Metro Gallery on Thursday 13 November 6:30 – 8:30 pm for the opening of Michael Peck’s solo exhibition, ‘Sanctuary’.

The show is a meditative return to the quiet contemplation of nature that underpins Peck’s artwork. As in Peck’s previous series the subjects are caught in frozen moments, catching the stillness between the frantic beatings of bird’s wings or the quiet solitude of a lone figure contemplating the landscape.

The show brings to a close the artist’s most successful year to date. In the past twelve months Peck has received widespread recognition for his work. Peck was a finalist in the Tattersall Prize in late 2013 and this year was a finalist in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Sulman Prize with his iconic work, The Archer and also a finalist in the prestigious John Leslie Art Prize. Peck is excited to have also been chosen for inclusion in the National Portrait Gallery’s 2014 exhibition In The Flesh and the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre’s 2015 exhibition Guarding the Home Front.
