Brisvegas highlights a bunch of artists who we have had our eye on with the next show at Bleeding Heart gallery, Goma Gopa.

Now, beyond it being curated by artist Anthony Jigalin, we don’t have too many details on this show. We do know that some fine practitioners of Brisbane street art, such as Guido Van Helten and Barek, are on the list, as well as LUCKS, amongst others.

Just get down there and check it out and we’re sure you wont be disappointed!!

Exhibition – 50/50 – Brisbane

We do love ourselves a good fundraising show, yet when it comes with a list of 50 artists, and fifty pieces of artworks, with some of Australias best on board – that especially gets us on the cheer-it-on bandwagon.

"50/50 is a fundraiser exhibition bringing together emerging mid-career and developing artists. These artists donate their work to be sold by Silent Auction beginning at $50 with the intention of supporting Jugglers and the EADP. The exhibition organisers and curators are Yannick Blattner, Clinton Cunningham, Jaclyn Bates and Char Chamez.

The Emerging Artists Development Program [EADP] works with referees from the Special Circumstances Courts in Brisbane and has been running on “less than average” funds for years now. The program is mentor and relationship based and aims for the participants to expand their arts skills into canvas work, screen-printing and drawing.

This is a unique program that over the past 5 years has given leadership in the arts and social services sectors in Brisbane and plays a significant part in the development of troubled youth, the growth of emerging artists and a positive application of the rule of law through the judicial system."

This highly successful endeavour is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the art calendar up in Brisvegas – go and check it out if you’re anywhere near the 4000 postcode, buy some art and help out!
