Exhibition – Cup & Saucer/Where Is My Heart – Melbourne

We love the innovation of the many shows that Paradise Hills has been displaying over the past year, and the next round of visual cool will be no exception. In a twin launch, Paradise Hills delves into the world of 8bit, and fantastical comic imagery, with a Friday double header that we’re sure will be every bit as unique as it promises to be.

"Paradise Hills announces one of the more eclectic events to be held in 2011 with the launch of an 8-bit PlayStation game and a sci-fi comic on the same night! Friday November 18, 2011, at 630pm, will feature the births of “Where Is My Heart” and “Cup and Saucer”.

Where Is My Heart is the latest edition to PS3 and PSP that sees the return of the 80s arcade game format to your big screen, high def plasma TV. Developed by German software wiz Bernhard Schulenburg, Where Is My Heart will is a time warp taking you back to when you were a kid or maybe to a time you only know as a crazy stage in recent history. Paradise Hills will feature a couple of screens to enjoy some competitive computer gaming spirit on the night.

Cup and Saucer is the comic sensation creation of talented Paradise Hills Studio artist, designer and musician David Hauser. Take the journey into Hauser’s science-fiction world of fantasy with the first issue of Cup and Saucer. Copies of the comic will be available for sale on the night, as well as large unique edition prints of Hauser’s original comic artwork. The night is sure to blow your mind!"

If you haven’t been to Paradise Hills yet, now is your chance, and, if you have, you already know why you should head down to this show.

Intercontinental – Point of View – ADNATE

Melbourne born and bred street artist ADNATE is debuting his first solo show in Europe at Box 32 Gallery in Berlin, Germany this month, and all of the original works in ‘Point of View’ were inspired by, and produced in, Germanys capital, Berlin.

“ADNATE was originally known for his early graffiti writing. Since perfecting his can control he has evolved into painting realistic portraits using spray as his unconventional medium.
Once focused on exhibiting, ADNATE completed two successful solo shows in Australia where he pushed the boundaries of Urban art. His works on canvas drew inspiration from both political and cultural themes.”

Check the video from his show Signs of Life earlier this year, such amazing work and we loved his last show before he left.

“I’ve seen a lot of different faces in my travels of the past 6 months. From the eyes of kids that have lived the lives of adults in India, to people losing there faces in clubs in Berlin. ‘Point of View’ seemed like the perfect title for my show, as all of the faces in the show are my interpretations of people I’ve recently seen and met.” – ADNATE

For some past words from the artist, have a look through the interview we did with the man last year -  and if you are within the general Germanic realm, go join the fun and support another Aussie artist doing his country proud!

Who: Matt ADNATE
What: Point of View – Debut European solo show
Where: Gallery BOX 32 Boxhagener Strasse. 33, 10245 Berlin, Germany
When: Show opens Friday September 30, from 7pm – 2am and runs until October 1st.

Exhibition – Pandarosa – Invisible Cities – Melbourne

Melbourne design duo Pandarosa (Ariel Aguilera and Andrea Benyi) are back this Thursday after having spent four years in Germany. They’ll be presenting with their new and explosive show ‘Invisible Cities’, transforming No Vacancy Gallery into their own incredible world of mediums; illustration, painting, photographic documentation.

This mega design duo have been impressing the world with their collaborative works for over a decade, and we are delighted to get a chance to see the fruits of their labour with their first Melbourne solo show in over five years!

“Inspired by their European relocation over the last 4 years & the great visual tales of Italo Calvino in ‘Le cittá invisibili’
The exhibit aims to transform the gallery space into a personal ‘journey’ of memoirs, where points of views are examined & meaning distorts between viewer, object & possessor as they interact.

The space separating these recollections & their narrative aims to interrogate the individual meaning of the ‘journey’ & reconfigure what the significance of such expeditions are to each of us, regardless of the destination.

The City exists and it has a simple secret: it knows only departures, not returns’ – From Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino.”

Interview – Makatron – Everfresh Studio

There would be no stretch of the imagination involved if one was to suggest that Melbourne artist Makatron has been making waves in the past year with his exhibitions, murals and street art. As part of the Everfresh crew, who have a large array of colossal murals and more subtle pieces spread across both Burn City and the world, it can also be said that he, along with the rest of the crew, are at the top of their game.

As an individual artist, however, his work conveys a thoughtful, and at times chaotic, interpretation of personal interaction with both the environment and the people contained within it. His extensive travels, coupled with his unique personal experiences and his love of the grittier underside of urban art have all combined to present a unique, emboldened style that has garnered him a solid body of fans.

Invurt recently had opportunity to conduct an in-depth, thought provoking, and generally kick-ass interview with Makatron, wherein he explains his work and ethos, and where racing a courier bike through the streets of Sao Paulo fits in to it all …

Interview – Current Value

On the European mainland, Drum’n'bass vies for attention from its fans amongst a swarm of diverse cultural and musical frameworks, and yet it is artists like Germanys Tim Eliot, aka Current Value, that have managed to help persuade people from across the world that the dark and eclectic side of drum and bass can attain as much soul and musical emphasis as even the smoothest tune. With glitches and often hectic, scattered drum arrangements, Current Value wields a sense of independence in his production that, over his past eleven years of production, has helped to endearing him to fans who enjoy a creative kick in the ass to the more rigid and formulaic sounds of mainstream d’n'b.
