No matter how busy things get, there’s always time for some video goodness! This week, what a roundup of grandness!

TwoOne, Al Stark and Nails got down and painted at RMIT the other week – and this is a really cool video from the day – its not embeddable, alas – so click through to watch it on the site.

First up, good friend and talented artistic maestro Ed Bechervaise has a feature video up! We loved the show, and we love this mans work.

Makatron has a show coming up real soon, and this is a great video preview for it – lots of footage of Maka in Brazil, Melbourne, Adelaide and Alice Springs.

The guys at Ambush Gallery teamed up with The Galeries to bring Transient – and this great feature interviews all of the artists involved – Beastman, Max Berry, Mark Alsweiler, Phibs, Jumbo and Numskull.

Just Another Agency did an awesome job at getting Sniders lane in the Melbourne CBD all painted up by a host of amazing artist.

Adrian Doyle has a show coming up, and this is an ultra cool expose on the man himself as well as his story and a bit of an expose on the infamous Blender studios – must see tv!

We are starting up on our big Outpost Project coverage next week – but for now, if you haven’t seen it yet – this is going to be absolutely amazing. We’ll be there, and you should be too. Watch this video!!

Jianna Lucia and Ollie Lucas teamed up with Steve Lamattina for the Grolsch Grid events, and came up with this hilarious and cool video featuring their art – and a kewpie doll …

Finally, well, I have a show opening up tonight (hence my less that prolific posting on here the past few weeks) – Carl Allison did up this video preview for it – hope you can make it down if you’re in Melbourne.

The São Paulo street art scene is one of the best in the world, and it’s with a huge amount of excitement that we saw Collingwoods Backwoods Gallery has just released the info for Yusk Imai’s solo show. Yusk is a favourite of ours here and we’ve been following him for some time. We loev his intricately sketched out ink work, and his Exoskeleton project was, to put it bluntly, fucking amazing.

"Despite being born in the United States, and of Japanese descent, it is the vibrant city energy and graffiti culture of his home town São Paulo that has played the most distinctive role in developing Yusk Imai’s artistic vision. Yusk represents the vanguard of a new generation of emerging Brazilian artists. His style transcends that of the hackneyed, commonplace

street art often seen gracing street and gallery walls, and is the very reason that he is universally considered a unique character. Yusk’s works are emotionally rich with spiritual messages and ask questions about human nature, our aspirations and our identity. His fine motifs and distinctive palette are an unquestionable nod to the masters of Art Nouveau. Timely then, that we see this exhibition running concurrently with the National Gallery of Victoria’s blockbuster Vienna exhibition.

You Have No Chance With Coincidence is a collection of works that explores life, love and death, interwoven through oils, acrylics, aerosol and inks, and all crafted through a delicate balance of determination and chance. It is a big collection, both in size and importance as it represents a significant chapter in the artist’s life.

This exhibition was completed as he made his way across Europe during the course of the year -painting walls and working shitty jobs. The installations and statues were created during his residency at Backwoods and Everfresh Studio over the course of the last month."

It’s always an absolute pleasure to see an artists from beyond our shores working and exhibiting here, and Yusk is one cool damned creative talent. If you’re in Vic over September, don’t miss this show – its  São Paulo street art meets Melbourne street art, and its going to be awesome.

Has been a really fun week in the world that Max Headroom calls home – so, as always, we’ll let the movies do the talking …

Given that the grand final of Secret Wars is next week, its only fitting that we show you the last rounds video, where Ken Taylor won over Drewfunk to enter the grand final .. man, I would have hated to be the judges on that last round, and the grand final will be even harder to judge!

Lastly, we have something that we saw over at Just Another Agencies blog – Timba Smits doing a magazine design cover for French magazine Be-Street, with none other than the infamous Shepard Fairey …slick design, too bad we can’t read French ..

There would be no stretch of the imagination involved if one was to suggest that Melbourne artist Makatron has been making waves in the past year with his exhibitions, murals and street art. As part of the Everfresh crew, who have a large array of colossal murals and more subtle pieces spread across both Burn City and the world, it can also be said that he, along with the rest of the crew, are at the top of their game.

As an individual artist, however, his work conveys a thoughtful, and at times chaotic, interpretation of personal interaction with both the environment and the people contained within it. His extensive travels, coupled with his unique personal experiences and his love of the grittier underside of urban art have all combined to present a unique, emboldened style that has garnered him a solid body of fans.

Invurt recently had opportunity to conduct an in-depth, thought provoking, and generally kick-ass interview with Makatron, wherein he explains his work and ethos, and where racing a courier bike through the streets of Sao Paulo fits in to it all …

Next to DJ Marky, there is no bigger export from the land of Mardi Gras than Brazils DJ Patife. Alongside his long time partner in crime, Cleveland Watkiss, Patife hits the stages of Perth once again this weekend at Heat nightclub.

“I never thought I could survive working with music,” Patife remarks, speaking on a career that has seen him rise to fame throughout the world. “[In] 1998 I decided to quit my daytime job and dedicate my time to music. It was hard in the beginning for my mum and dad to understand that, ‘specially [because] nobody in my family deals with music.” (more…)
