Exhibition – The Conservatorium Project – Perth

There’s a new creative space in P-town, and next week they’ll be holding their very first show. As an Artist Run Initiative (ARI), Paper Mountain has set up home in the hub of creative Northbridge, and looks to have a promising future ahead of it. The first show looks pretty intriguing!

"The Conservatorium is a exhibition of artworks in jars. The show is made up of contributions from 80 invited artists, all of whom were given the brief that their work must be at least partially contained within a glass, plastic or ceramic jar. The resultant artworks resonate as an industrious investigation into containment, seeing and preserving. Curated by Anna Dunnill and Renae Coles, The Conservatorium is the first exhibition to take place in Perth’s newest ARI, Paper Mountain and is a part of FRINGE WORLD Festival, Perth 2012."

As a new initiative, Paper Mountain also went looking for some funding to help cover the costs of this first show – unfortunately, their grant application was unsuccessful (I mean, such a small amount for a great cause, wtf?), so they’re looking for some help via Pozible. They’re already pretty close to their mark, but if you want to help out then this is a great example of where crowd funding can really help out some fellow artists.

It’s nice to see this kind of thing in Perth, and lets hope Paper Mountain is a huge success, so get down there and show your support!
