Bass Invursions #30
Fire it up everyone, because the next couple of weeks you’re in for a plethora of surprises as some of the biggest and best names hit Perth for performances that you’re sure to love. With the last few weeks being fairly busy, it just doesn’t seem like things are going to slow down when the clock goes back that hour to the gloom that is non-daylight savings.
Tickets are selling really fast for the Pendulum gig at Robinson Pavilion on April the 19th, and I wouldn’t hesitate to say that this will be a sell out event. They’ll be playing a lot of highlights from their upcoming album so if you haven’t got your ticket, then you really had better go and grab it soon. This is a gig for all ages, so no one has an excuse not to go.
Another recent announcement, as well as hosting the Pendulum gig, Naras have put out their flyers for LTJ Bukem and Conrads latest tour. They’ll be hitting Shape nightclub on Easter Sunday, the 23rd of March. Not sure who will be supporting them, but if you like your beats a little more on the salubrious side, then go check it out – should be a good way to spend the Easter Sabbath.
This weekend Mekka and The Nine are celebrating the return of ShockOne from his European tour. It’ll be good to see him rockin on down, and even better to hear the tunes he’s bringing back with him from his journey. Mmmm, dub plate deliciousness. Allegedly he’s managed to do some collaborations with both Brookes Brothers as well as Futurebound on his travels, so lets hope he gets them all finished up before the gig (not too much pressure there, eh?) Also, the first hundred people through the door will receive a free Phetsta CD as an added bonus.
Another favourite of ours, DJ Marky, is heading back over here for a Heavy Weight Soundz gig – and along with him will be our (might as well be) adopted son, Stamina MC . Everyone knows that Heavy Weight gigs go off, and the Brazilian will certainly be hitting in hard with his performance – it’s been a while since he’s been down here, so this is one Loaded Dice gig at Metros that shouldn’t be missed.
Keeping on their Saturday night roll, New Generation are keeping at it with their second Back to Back sessions. This time up, they’ve got Frantik vs Rukfut b2b with Rintel on a four deck showcase, Dub Alley b2b with Blanko, Fusion b2b with Rowdy and Skinny, Daemos b2b with Pirate Bwoi. They’ve also managed to snag J Rippa to MC along with Webbz, Pugz and Tela.
Roll on Easter Roller everyone! 20th of March has another instalment of Easter madness for is, with Progress Inn, Greg Packer, Kent and Dart all hitting the decks for our annual d’n'ball of epic proportions. Big ups to the Rosemount for letting them put it on, now how about those regular Thursdays again? Did I say Epic? Let me say again, epic!
In tracks, allegedly Jazza has been creaming his pants over Neros Solid Air – and who am I to argue. Totally quality tune with lots of strings, rolling beats and femme vocals. He also recommends Cooh – Ventil for some extra mad shit with a bit of a difference.
In sadder news, it looks like the knob end powers that be have not renewed Groove FMs license this year, not only killing off a great youth orientated radio station, but also marking the final Liquify radio show last Sunday. Both Rumour, Sonarus and everyone else involved should be commended for all of their great work in giving exposure to Perths d’n'b scene, and lets hope that we see Liquify back and on another radio station as soon as possible.
Rightio, that’s all from me this time around, take it ez and enjoy your beats!
