Bass Invursions #29

Having been looking forward to Nu:Tone and Cyantific for some time, there was very little disappointment at last Friday nights performance at Shape - both of the Hospital boys played amazing sets. Not to mention that our local boy, Sardi, also had a great run of the eve with a perfect example of why he was the warm-up act - one of his best I’ve seen. From reports back, Limewax and Dylan also put forth and incredible display, that is, if my housemate’s first words the day after were “that was the best fuckin set ever” are anything to go by. This week sees a number of big announcements for nights in Perth over the next few months, so it looks set to continue to be a busy time.

Of course, the main event that everyone is now hanging for is the recently announced Pendulum show that Naras will be putting on. This is set to be bigger than ever, and the boys will be touching down with a live show on April the 19th at Claremont Showgrounds Robinson Pavilion - which should prove to be a great venue. With their new album release set for May 12th, those hungry for its arrival will more than likely get a good preview of what is to come - and with a full visual setup likely to accompany them, it’s going to be big.

Another big announcement for all those who are sadly missing their Thursday epic Rollers is that the lads will be putting on their annual Easter Roller at the Rosemount. No real details as yet, but you can expect it to be large, messy and as good as it is every year - the only thing that ever really comes close to a d’n’b ball. It’ll be great to see the Rosemount packed to the rafters again on a Thursday night instead of looking like a ghost town.

The Inhibit guys have their new regular event hitting the Norfolk Hotel on March the 1st, with Future Soundz set to bring the breaks back to Fremantle. Cheap five buck entry and a great line-up of Inhibit regulars, it’s definitely worth hauling down to the port to check out.

Mekka is continuing with its new format, and there are rumours that they may be bringing up that panda-styled act L.A.O.S. - if all the internet posts are to be believed. Funky times ahead, and the regular nights that they are putting on at Bar Open keep on keeping on. Keep an eye on its largeness.

Make note also that both Outrage and Trei will be making an appearance alongside Infected Mushroom come March 2nd, and this should be a great cross-genre gig – with quite a few locals playing alongside.

On the web, there’s been some nice new mixes have gone up online. For those who caught Alix Perez when he was over here a few months ago, and were impressed, then you might want to check out his latest offering at http://dnbshare.com/download/Alix_Perez_and_Spectrasoul-1Xtra_Allstars_M1X_Show-2008-02-03.mp3.html - sure its a long URL, but worth the typing it out to listen. There’s also a great new Commix set linked to at http://www.shareonall.com/Commix-Resident_At_Play_FM-20080207._mr_db_dwdc.mp3 - Commix is definitely one of the men of the moment right now and that set should give you a good intro to him if you haven’t heard his fine work before.

In other vinyl releases, local label Climate has released a tune by Safire, Shadows, which is quite nice - his track Dream Carrier back on to this and it’s also worth a listen. Also out on Climate is the new track from our own local boy Rregular and Mastermynd with Invasion. Twisted Individual has his tune On The Back Seat Of Her Daddys Truck out this week as well, and its not a bad track, the lead synth is certainly interesting.

That about wraps up this weeks column, heres to the next few weeks - keep it real, and take it ez.
